Google Earth is getting its first update since 2012. New features include 3D maps, guided tours, and a lots of information for sites all around the world. This is also available for android users as well with the Earth app planning to be released.
The new update is simply amazing. It enables users to look around the globe from a birds eye view from any angle. According to the article, "New version of Google Earth goes live with guided tours and 3D maps" there seems to be 50 tours available. People are now able to learn about locales such as Galapagos Islands and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.The official website Google Earth also offers interactive stories from around the world. Information about travel, nature, culture and history is available for everyone to view on the website. I personally enjoyed my time on the website because the locations and information presented were breathe taking and proved to be quite the enjoyable learning experience.
Overall, the updates to Google Earth were amazing to say the least and can potentially become an environment for users all around the world to learn about our planet without the need to travel. Especially with the rise of AR and VR technology in recent years, the possibility of this becoming a reality is not so far fetched.
