Future of Data Transfer

Earlier this week I was complaining to a friend about my ISP having a cap on their download speed being 3.3 mbps, seriously Australian internet is FAR from good. But then he commented on how a friend of his is still on dial up. It’s amazing how easily we get caught up in minor issues and take things for granted. Once I got home I did some research and came across an interesting article written by Campbell Simpson.

Adelaide wants 10gbps internet so its building its own network, presented an extremely ambitious goal of "building a fibre network capable of 10Gbps transfer rates, 100 times faster than the current capability of the best possible NBN fibre hook-up."

This article has not only lead me to consider the potential this technology could bring to businesses, but also left me wondering about the impacts it would have on society.
